Baladji Kwata — A story born in the streets 1

Baladji Kwata is an urban music group based in Cameroon, more precisely in Ngaoundéré in the Adamaoua region. The group came into being in 2007, founded by MEKNEL, PETIT NONO, BIG WILLY. All passionate about music and art in general. Baladji is the name of the most famous neighborhood in the city, an underprivileged neighborhood that saw the birth of the group's founding members. They gained renown in the city touring the various school-concert stages with the famous song of all the young people of that era, "sur la route de mardock". The group won three times in a row the "coca cola caravane du bonheur" competition at regional level in the RAP and karaoke category. The group continues to take part in various competitions. They are 2nd in the national ranking of "MTN make the music". Despite the popularity, some members preferred to continue their studies and went into other lines of work. Meknel, the group's leader, would have to draw on multiple artistic talents such as painting, screen printing, graphic design, photography and video editing to keep the group going.

All this know-how helped label the group as BLD 74, and with the arrival of Chaldis, a HIPHOP dancer, film actor and stuntman, the Dick-Jockey Devastador, and the rapper Dogui, an audiovisual technician, gave new life to the group, which was already dozing off. In 2017, the label became BLDK Industrie, putting their multiple artistic talents to work. Along the way, the label allowed the emergence of artists and sound engineers such as Monsieur Muss and Blek, rapper and songwriter. Despite all the difficulties young people from the North generally face organizing events, BLDK's young artists pushed to organize shows to promote their work, such as the concert of December 24, 2018, a success near the Carrefour Gabriel, and the concert of February 11, 2019, at the Alliance Française of Ngaoundéré.

To enhance the identity of Sahelian culture, the group covers ABBA DJAORO's famous song "argent sale". In 2022, during the Africa Cup of Nations football tournament in Cameroon, the group joined the celebration through a collaboration with the griots of Galim-Tignere on the legendary song "VE ROU ZAUNE" (green red yellow). At the start of the competition, a clash broke out online between Ivorians and Cameroonians. A response set to zouglou music on the song "HUER" exploded the counters online and got the group Baladji Kwata discovered across the continent. The biggest success so far comes with the song "TCHI-TCHI", which has racked up several million views on social media and positions the group Baladji as one of the best urban music groups in Cameroon. Baladji became famous for the energy it puts into defending the colors of Cameroon, riding the BUZZ news and patriotic feeling, releasing several artistic works such as the cover of PHILL BILL's song SHABASSIKO, the respectful response to Longue Longue, "clé 14" taking a stand for the artist TENOR in his dispute with the comedian EUNICE, the song PORTA POTTY raising youth awareness about the easy and luxurious life phenomenon, and the comic song LES CELIBATAIRES.

IN 2023, on the eve of the Ramadan holiday, the group Baladji Kwata made people talk about it again with the song "DJOULDE", which already counts several thousand views on youtube and once again positions the group at the top of Northern hits. To honor Workers on the occasion of International Workers' Day, the group Baladji Kwata released the song titled "TRAVAILLER" in May 2023; this song would be selected to represent Cameroon and Africa at the international competition "La Manie Musicale", known as the World Cup of Francophone music, held in the United States…
